Why You Need to Be Putting Ghee On Your Body
Maybe the skin on your legs feels a bit dry. Or your elbows a bit chapped. Or you want your décolleté to have a bit of a sheen in your off-the-shoulder blouse. We thought of all these things as we created our new Absolute Anti Aging Body Balm. The goal was to create a product that helped our body skin become bouncy to the touch, gleaming with hydration and nutrients. Toned. Radiant. Strong. Our lightweight soufflé balm does all this. It feeds the skin vital nutrients so it looks and feels its healthiest—and it all starts with a star ingredient: ghee.
It may be a rather unexpected ingredient to be slathering on the skin, but not according to Ayurvedic standards. Ghee, which is made from clarified butter (the butter is slowly simmered so the liquid fats separate from the solids, then it's strained), has long been touted as a beauty star. The silky, whipped texture instantly melts into skin bringing intense moisture to the dermal layers. Golden and gleaming, it lends an instant glow to wherever it's topically applied. (And this is just on the outside. Ghee is also an Ayurvedic superstar for its internal benefits as it is rich in nutrients that reduce inflammation, ease digestive issues, and help to thwart various ailments. The presence of CLA—conjugated linoleic acid—may help to reduce the cardiovascular disease, while vitamins A and E act as powerful antioxidants and vitamin D aids in healthy brain function.)
So we took this ancient liquid gold and made it even (dare we say) more exceptional by whipping in botanicals of moringa and pomegranate, organically grown on the UMA Estate. These add additional essential vitamins, phytonutrients, minerals, fatty acids, and antioxidants. We followed that with grapefruit, which helps to promote lymphatic drainage and circulation, so the skin looks more toned and smooth. And then Ashwagandha, the it adaptogen of today, helps the body internally and externally deal with environmental stressors. Of course, we must add that the indulgent essence of neroli, jasmine, and sandalwood marry it all together, leaving the skin gleaming, hydrated, and kissed with the most intoxicating aroma.
