Our Story

UMA is a luxury beauty and wellness collection made of rare, precious botanicals grown in India and built around the 5000-year-old wisdom of Ayurveda.

Every ingredient is cultivated with the utmost care and obsessively considered for its efficacy and holistic healing benefits for the skin, body, mind, and spirit. UMA is the culmination of rich tradition, powerful science, and —above all— love.

OUR HERITAGE

For centuries, the Uma estate has farmed and crafted the world’s finest organic oils, securing the coveted role of trusted supplier to the world’s most prestigious beauty brands – ranging from Tom Ford to Estée Lauder.

OUR ESTATE

All of our botanicals are raised on our 100-acre meadow, which was carefully chosen for its nutritious soil. Our dedicated caretakers select only the finest seeds, and nurse their plants through the growing season – making sure to harvest each plant no more than two times before re-planting. While this painstaking process results in a lower yield, it ensures the unparalleled purity and therapeutic benefit of our oils.

OUR AGE-OLD SECRETS

Our ancestors were the gatekeepers of their craft – handcrafting essential oil blends in the Ayurvedic tradition – and passed down this expertise over generations. Beloved by royalty, our potent (and secret) formulas have long adorned the beauty regiments of princesses and queens, and deliver the same profound effects today. Uma’s unique line of products was created especially to bring our rich heritage, pristine ingredients, and centuries of knowledge to you in an intimate form.

OUR DEFINITION OF LUXURY

At Uma, our vision is to redefine the concept of luxury as we know it. Luxury is more than a label – it’s a statement of exquisite craftsmanship, characterized by an investment of time, and an attention to detail. We embrace technological advancements in all of our processes, but believe technology will never be a substitute for experience, judgment and personalized attention to product. This is why we carefully inspect every harvest, and handcraft our oils in small batches.

Every bottle of Uma is the culmination of rich tradition, powerful science, and above all, love. We aim to transform skin and overall wellbeing, with products as distinctive as the women who wear them.

OUR INSPIRATION

A note from founder Shrankhla Holecek: Uma was named after my dear aunt – a truly remarkable woman, who played an integral role in raising my sister and me. She was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known, inside and out – and I hope to honor her with a brand that celebrates her generous spirit and indomitable sense of self. I never saw her wear make-up, and yet she looked radiant until the day she died.

Our brand celebrates the Uma in each of us – our ability to find peace amidst chaos, to balance our complex ambitions with our most fundamental emotions, and to find contentment in the knowledge that everything we need is already within us. My aunt taught me that true beauty is found in simplicity, integrity and equilibrium – and our brand strives to honor her by ensuring every drop of our oil consists of the same.

OUR FOUNDER

Founder Shrankhla Holecek was raised in India, immersed in the knowledge and cultural tradition of Ayurveda and holistic medicine. When she moved to Beverly Hills for business school, she soon found herself surrounded by misappropriations of the Indian rituals and Ayurvedic practices she had grown up with. Frustrated, she decided it was time to create a line of products with integrity – one that would do justice to her family’s heritage, and its extraordinary legacy of craftsmanship.

With Uma, Shrankhla strove to give women access to powerful, artisanal products that would deliver dramatic results – of the rapid, perceptible, and sustainable variety. This is why our oils are a combination of ultra-pure botanicals and time-tested formulas – tailored to address the stressors and ailments we face in the modern world. Tested by over a thousand women, our proprietary skincare blends delivered visible results in skin brightness and clarity, and reduced fine lines in 93% of women surveyed.
